I am beyond thrilled to feature the fantastic Jenny Dixon's fourth guest blog here on ediTORIal! She's already shown you how to Spray Paint Your Thrift Store Finds, create DIY Yarn Letters and make a super cute DIY Mailbox for your little ones... and now she's gonna show you how to make a super personalized and thoughtful baby gift. Jenny made this collection of adorable peg dolls for me and my family when Finn came into the world and I was blown away by how sweet, thoughtful and uber-crafty this gift was! Here we go with Jenny's tuTORIal on DIY Peg Dolls...

What baby gift do you give to a crafty celeb momma of four kids? I wanted my gift to Tori to be personalized, handmade, and inclusive of her newly expanded family. If you enjoy painting, peg dolls are a fun craft to make. There are so many ways to get creative with pegs as cake toppers, Valentines, ornaments, and even necklaces.

Here is what you will need:

Materials:
- Pencil
- Acrylic Paint
- Fine Tip Brushes
- Clear Acrylic Sealer
- Wood Pegs: Sizes 2-3/8" (Dean), 2" (Tori), 1-11/16" (Liam and Stella), and 1-1/8" (Hattie and Finn).
Directions:
- Find an inspiration picture. Use a pencil to draw a simple design on the peg doll.

- Start painting the top of the peg. Let each color dry before moving to a new color.

- When you have finished painting the entire peg doll, let it dry 1-2 hours. Use an eraser to lightly remove any pencil marks. Place pegs on newspaper and spray the front and back with one coat of acrylic sealer. Let dry, then repeat with a second coat. Place peg doll in a well ventilated room to dry overnight.

- Lastly, I created a special keepsake box for the pegs by attaching a chic label {designed by Blush Printables} to a plain white tin from Michaels.
Thank you so much Jenny! For more of her fabulous and crafty tips, visit her website Crossing the Bugger-Dixon Line.

I used to work at a University library with some of the most amazingly creative ladies. One summer, when it was really slow, we created a boardgame. The game was hilarious. It was like MASH set to poster board. Everyone made their way down a path and drew birth, school, spouse, work, child, home, vacation, and death cards. Sounds crazy, but so stinking funny and offbeat. Anyhow, for playing pieces, we use peg people just like these. Everyone painted a couple of pegs, so we have an array of characters to choose from. Even now, when we get together for dinner, we bring the game with us. We've had restaurant staff ask to play because we've been laughing so hard. Great idea for a lazy summer in the stacks.

Jenny, The dolls you made for Tori and her family are beautiful. I'm definitely more creative and artsy when it comes to paper and stamping. However, these are too cute to not to give it a go. Thanks for giving me a new craft challenge! -

This is the present that I just gave my aunt for her baby shower last Saturday. The base is a foam wreath mold with newborn size diapers tied around it. Then I just added some teeting rings, a little book, tub toys, washclothes rolled up like roses, and socks linked together to look like a flower. Top it with a bow and you have a gift that already looks wrapped.

Those are absolutely adorable! :) I wish I could say that I was crafty and gave great gifts...but I am not, and I don't. I give the gift of being a good girlfriend to new moms! ;)
