The weekend before last, Stella and I were in a crafty mood so we decided to take a standard white tank and put our tie-dyed touch on it and, as promised, I wanted to share how we did it with you! So, here goes:
First and foremost, before you dye anything, you should wash it so that the color stays and so that the sizing is correct. Once you've done that, you can really get started.
1. We laid her shirt out flat and folded it left to right like an accordion and then twisted it tight and tied it off with tight, tight rubber bands. Depending on the design you want to attain there are many creative folding and tying options. We wanted horizontal lines on ours!

2. Prepare your dye according to the directions on the box or bottle.

3. Start dyeing! If you're doing more than one color, it's good to start with the lightest color first so that you can dye over it, but since we were only using one color, we just dove right in.

And voila!
We wanted to add some detail to the shirt, so we decided to cut up some floral lace and glued onto the tank with fabric glue.

We made one for Hattie, too!

And of course, we couldn't leave Liam out of the fun, so he got down and tie-dye dirty too:

So now all the McDermott kids are happily tie-dyed!
We were quite the happy family! It's a great, fun way to give the kids hours of entertainment and let them show off their creative sides.
How do you keep the kids entertained on the weekends?
Love,
T

i never thought possible that dr.marnish can do miracles, like restoring broken relationship! At first everything felt dreamy and unbelievable, I was scared a little cos I heard read and heard lots of stories of fake spell casters, scams and i never really believed in magic but I played along with a little hope and and faith and after everything, the love spell worked like a magic This love spells casted by dr.marnish@yahoo.com made my man who broke my heart 4 months ago to come back to me, this is unbelievable, Only 3 days after the love spell was casted, my lover said that he wants us to come back together. to my surprise, he came back the next morning he was all on me kissing and rubbing me telling me how much he missed me and how much he loves me , that he wants me back. i was happy and i gladly took him back, thanks to dr.marnish for helping me to bring my lover back

i and my lover had some misunderstanding 3 months ago and he left the house with no tress, there was no way i could contact him, i searched for him i could not find him, i was desperate to get him back, crying every hour became my duty, so when i told a friend what had happened, she told me she had similar problem but a spell caster helped her, so he directed me on how to contact this spell caster, she gave me this email address prophetharry@ymail.com, so i contacted prophet regarding my problem and he said he could help me, i gave him the necessary informations which he required for and after three days of his spell was casterd, my lover who left the house came back and confessed to me that he was having another affair with another girl, he fell on his knees while begging that I give him a second chance and also apologized never to cheat on me again, so we reconciled together . The scene was unbelievable, especially from him who is a such a proud man usually! thanks to prophetharry@ymail.com for giving me all I asked for, My spells seems to work in the most powerful way.

Great idea, so I tried it myself. I looked up some movies on YouTube to get some ideas on how to fold the t-shirt.
Here is the result of my "tie-dye"-work:

Crafts are big in our house! I have 2 sons and we've always done crafts together! Before each summer begins, I hit up Michaels and the dollar store for craft supplies, puzzles, etc. 2 years ago the boys painted self portraits on canvases. Don't forget to have them date them on the back, with their artist's signature, too! This year they painted family portraits. I'll cherish them always! Don't forget the guys, Tori! We moms of boys need to stick together and get creative so our kids can, too! Thanks!

TOTALLY doing this. I let them go crazy with paint, glitter glue, markers...etc. then let them loose outside with a big bucket of water to play and get nice and clean!

Tori your kids are so adorable. Stella is a little diva and will probably be a model one day. Hattie's big blue eyes make your heart melt!! And Liam has grown so much, wow. Tie dye sounds like a great idea to keep them occupied. I will have to tell my friends with kids that one. :D

Amazing job! Love the look on Hattie's face. Think I'm going to have to try for when Drea and I head to LA in September.

Tori you should check out how to tie-dye with Sharpie Markers. You draw small areas and them put drops of rubbing alcohol on the colors and they turn into tie dye patterns. There are many different ways to do it but here are my two favorites

Speaking of well turned out buns: you and Dean make the most beautiful kids. Love the picture of the three of them together, the joy of your familylife is oozing out! Thanks for keeping us posted by these ever so private and intimate familypics, it makes me appreciate my own home with my husband and three kiddos even more (it's a bit like a mirror). It's good to count one's blessings once in a while, these pictorials make me take that moment every now and then.

O my gosh, this is so do-able, even for a craftilliterate like me! Two hours ago I closed my office for three weeks and my well deserved summerholiday has started! This gets me in the right mood.
My weekend entertainment usually involves loads of cooking and baking. They enjoy learning 'difficult' skills such as cracking an egg, whisking eggwhites till their arms drop of and even cutting vegetables with 'sharp' knives. And there is always the reward afterwards: good food! Latest superhit: (gluten free) cinnamonbuns, dangerously and addictively good.

I love tie dyeing with my kids too - so much fun. They have these 1-step tie dye kits (Tulip brand) that we had a TON of fun with, and they were really easy to use.
I love the lace you added to Stella's shirt - it is so pretty and takes it to the next level.

My son recently went to VBS and this was the first craft they did. The kids had a blast and all of their shirts turned out so beautiful. I love adding the lace flowers to both Stella and Hattie's shirt for a bit of detailing. Because after all, everything is about the details.
