Last week we threw the official launch party for Little Maven, my line of chic baby and kids' clothing with JCPenney. The theme of the day was glamping (glamorous camping, of course!) at Camp Little Maven. It's no secret I'm an avid party planner so I was so excited to leave no camping detail behind. Camp Little Maven included everything from a faux campfire, s'moresstation, crafting tables (obviously), a fishing pond, and designer teepees (designed by moi) plus so much more. Here is my picTORIal and detail inspirations from our day of glamping...

Welcome to Camp Little Maven!
The inspiration? Vintage camp with a glamorous take on it, thus Glamping! I never actually went to camp. I know, shocking! The closest i got to the experience was playing a girl scout in the 80's movie, "Troop Beverly Hills". Does that count? I've always been obsessed with the notion of being a kid and going away to camp, so i created my own for my kids and all Little Mavens. Enter... Camp Little Maven.

Our camp counselor welcomed all of the glampers
I wanted that old vintage camp wood font on the tees and an old fashioned megaphone, " Attention Campers...". My camp inspiration movie? "Little Darlings". Remember that one with a teenage Tatum O'Neal & Kristy McNichol?

We had all camp signs made using reclaimed wood

Pieces from the Little Maven collection were hung on old-fashioned laundry lines with vintage clothing pins above the camp
Not only are these clothes exclusively designed for JCPenney chic, comfy and best of all afordable, but they also make for great campsite decor!
Some of my fave Little Maven pieces were hung up on this line. Obsessed with the chevron peasant blouse and the faux fur vest, both of which are regulars in Hattie's wardrobe and inspired by Miss Stella and her obsession with faux fur vests! Plus those snap on bibs are in very chic prints and are a functional easy for mom must have! I designed them out of necessity and after the grief of waking a sleeping baby after feeding and trying to remove the bib.

The photo wall was inspired by our family photo wall in our house and past homes. We also created an outdoor version for our vow renewal and I thought it would be an amazing visual and bring it all back to family. We used photos of my family, Little Maven pics, and prints. I wanted the DIY stick frames often seen in log cabins or vintage camp. We sprayed them glossy white to add that modern Glamp feel.

When decorating a party or even a room in your house it's great if you can begin with one starting inspiration piece or idea. For this it was the notion of a teepee made with Little Maven fabrics. BTW... Huge hit with the kids!

Peek-a-boo!

And of course a big campfire with vintage inspired camp stools made with Little Maven fabrics

Don't worry, it's a faux fire!

I guess Hattie picked her favorite Little Maven print!
It's all in the details! We places these as center pieces on every picnic table
No campfire is complete without DIY S'mores...
These camp signs all over were a must!

This kiddie fishing pond was a huge success. All the kids won bug jars filled with gummy worms and bugs.
There was also a tire swing, which Miss Hattie Cat spent a lot of time on. She was also our Little Maven model of the day, wearing her chic chevron peasant top and signature jeggings

This sign totally sums up our family! Need I say more?

The family that crafts together stays together!

The kids could decorate these DIY flags made from our Little Maven prints. Stella made me a "T"! She's my little crafting goddess!

Nothing screams camp more than friendship bracelets
So I wanted a BFF bracelet station (as you know, Stella is VERY into friendship bracelets)
Crafters, eat your heart out!

When i was a kid i was obsessed with making Pet Rocks! So, i wanted to bring that craft to my kids and their friends. There was a station where all the Little Mavens could decorate their own pet rocks...
And take them home in their very own pet box. The chic version of what you'd bring home that lizard your child saw at the pet store and promised on hands and knees to take care of and never did. Oops wait... That's my life!
Our family loves tie dying, so I thought it would be fun for the campers to get to make their own designs
The tie-dye supplies

Such fun tanks!
We had a little set up where the campers could take pictures with their friends (and parents) in some uber chic vintage canoes

Here's our family shot!

Liam and his friends

And, Miss Stella
This was for the boys...

Liam & his friend admiring the insects

Someone in this pic is my worst nightmare, Liam's fave, and the nickname he wanted to give Finn...
We had a lemonade stand, with options for little mavens and big mavens
We served the lemonade in mason jars with super cute striped straws in my layette collection colors
Nothing like an ice cold glass of lemonade after a long day of Glamping!
There were the flavors for the adults... with floral, herb and fruit syrups to mix in
And these were the rainbow fun kid flavors
There were tons of delicious mini (of course) camp foods being passed around, like these mini cans filled with baked beans

Lots of my mommy friends came including a girlfriend reunion. The Beach House Lives! Roomies and besties Kelly, Donna, and Claire aka Me with Jennie Garth and Kathleen Robertson, my friends from 90210.

And then, it was time for the campfire sing along!

Liam helped round everyone up for the sing-a-long

Kumbaya!
Liam loved it, and even pretended to roast a marshmallow as he sang!
Stella got into the campfire spirit too
To finish the day of camping off on a sweet note, we had a huge dessert table (a must-have at every party!)
How camping-chic does this look?!
Our dear friend Jenny Cookies made all of the desserts

We decided to put our Little Maven prints on the cookies!
Love these cake pops using twigs instead of normal lollipop sticks
Tree stumps as cake plates were genius

So many sweet treats, it was almost impossible to sample all of them

S'more chic
There were even JCPenney cookies!

A fun homemade trail mix, the camping survival snack!

Right before our campers headed home, we gave each of them a goodie bag, filled with camping essentials. I was going for the Huck Finn meets Snoopy running away from home look. A Little Maven layette blanket held goodies inside!

A great day was had by all and I've now officially satisfied my desire to attend camp! I'm not only beyond proud of my clothing line that I can share with my own kids and all little mavens everywhere but so incredibly proud to now call JCPenney home!
And if you're in the market to upgrade your little ones' wardrobe, Little Maven is available exclusively at JCPenney stores everywhere, and also online!
So what did you think? Which part of Camp Little Maven was your favorite?
Also, make sure to come back to ediTORIal tomorrow, because I'll be giving away one of our Camp Little Maven goodie bags (complete with some amazing items, including a JCPenney gift card) to 1 lucky reader!
Love,
T

Oh,this took me back to some of my very best childhood days! Thank you. I can't wait to have A Day of Glamping with my daughters and you have inspired me to make this happen very, very soon. I LOVE the happy trails packs you used as goodies but I may take it a step further and fill it with lunch goodies and head out on the trail with the kids. Your detail is amazing. Thank you again. AND I can't wait to shop at JCPenny for Little Maven's stylish clothing. I'm thrilled that even those of us in the Midwest can easily find this adorable line. -

I truly enjoyed every picture! they put a huge smile on my face, I felt like I was there. Beautiful work Tori and family because I know that it took the whole family and friends to make this a reality. That's why everything you do is a hit because you do it with love, family and close friends. Simply wonderful! I can't wait to go to JCP, which is my favorite store by the way and check out Little Maven for all the Little Mavens in my family

I bought my first Little Maven outfit at Penney's last week for my 17 month old son. It was the pants with the 2 vest set. He is "Carl" from Up, and this was the perfect outfit for my little old man, but he'll be wearing this again because it's ADORABLE! I'm keeping my eye out for more Maven additions! You've got great taste, and I love that it's so affordable, Tori!

How To Be A Party Planning Goddess by Tori Spelling!!! Goodness me, I planned a party last summer and inspired by my Detail Guru T, I got all the little details covered. I was rather chummed by the end-result and loads of guests texted or e-mailed me the days after the party that they had a ball and loved the way the party scene looked (what more can a hostess want, positive reviews), that never happened to me before! But you bring this partyplanning stuff to a complete different level!!! It's like being back at uni again: after finishing the first year of Introduction to Party Planning, we dive straight into the second year, forced to step up our game and follow the heavy course of Mastering the Art of Party Planning by professor Spelling.
I really admire your stamina and drive: having four children in five years, recovering from a dramatic episode in your life, being the busy mompreneur you are, maintaining a good and healthy marriage and all this in the spotlight. After seeing this beautiful picTORIal I feel rather underachieving allthough I know I am a hard worker. But most of all I am inspired by it! By the (whole lotta!!) woman you are and by the partypics: love the vintage feeling and especially loved the cake and cookie station. Best part: the old fashioned (portable?) camping gas/stoves.
Thank you again!
