There’s only 1 day left in 2012, which means it’s time to lock down your New Year’s resolutions and get ready to work on them. Everyyear at this time I take a few moments to think about the past year, and make a mental list of everything that happened and think about a few things that I want to work harder at next year. I know that for us busy momistas it can be hard to make time for ourselves and to even think about personal goals, but I hope that you can find a couple minutes to think about things that you can do to make 2013 even better than 2012 was.
Without further ado, here are my 2013 New Year’s resolutions:
- Take a family vacation this year where Dean and I both turn off our iPhones and totally unplug (I might have to turn my phone on to take pictures to share with all of you guys, but I think that should be allowed!)
- Have more than 1 adults-only nights this year with Dean and our friends. Teri may or may not be invited… I haven’t decided on that yet, but it’s always a possibility
- Drink more water (I’m the worst at hydrating!)
- Get organized
- Get healthy and back into those skinny jeans (the ones that scream “We miss you T!” every time I walk past them stacked and dusty in the corner of my closet)
Liam says his resolutions are…
- To cuddle more with my family
- To finish and do more of my homework
Stella says her New Year’s resolutions are…
- Start wearing more colors other than pink
- To sit outdoors more and watch the moon with my family
What are your New Year’s resolutions?
Love,
T

My resolutions were to be more in the moment and more gentle with my girls (ie: yell less!)
I gave my 4 year old twins the resolution of listening better (fingers crossed)
Their resolutions were so sweet:
G: Learn that everything can't always be in a hurry
L: Practice my trapeze tricks, I have really been trying my swoopty loopty trick mom!
Both: Make art for an art studio and learn to ride a bike
I love both of their ideas. Out of the mouths of babes : ) - slow down and do what you love! -
What Great New Years Resolutions!! I know how much you Hate drinking Water!! You need to though!! You will get in your skinny jeans for sure!!... I also am not so great at organizing! My New Years Resolutions would be to organize my master closet (It is a Mess) Too many Shoes, purses & clothes! I don't even wear anything in there anymore... But , won't get rid of.. I may wear some of it sometimes!...Also would love to stay in that mode & have my garage cleaned out & maybe have my car parked in it?! It is a 2car garage! Lol! Eat better & healthy! That means to try & eat 2x a day & not run out w/o eating anything! Love to try & stretch, do pilates, yoga or swim a few times a week?! Need to think positive that I will feel better & get better! Try to get on this site more, twitter, Deans too & F/b!! Lastly, try to get out more & maybe give dating a try again?! It's hard when you just don't feel that great... We will see?.... Anyway, Good Luck with Everyones New Years Reolutions!! Happy New Year to you all!! Xo -
I am a budding Essential Oil Expert. My goal for 2013 is to beat my bone marrow cancer and teach all of the Essential Oil Classes I can this year. With a sweet hubby commuting to LA weekly from Phoenix I plan to catch up with all of my dear SO Cal and Malibu buddies from when we lived there. I hope to share the natural healing methods I have learned so far and pray that I can create miracles like the one created for me and my health. Daily I am reminded of Gods handiwork in this new calling to help others with whatever their health issue is. On New Year Eve I was asked to make "The Bomb" to blow a friends cold/flu up and out of her system. She took 2 before her big night and partied until 4:30 AM! Came home and slept like a baby and woke with no evidence of illness! I love it when I get to see such fast and amazing results. I know this will be a business for me someday after I am completely cancer free but in the meantime I am a sponge for information and knowledge, and I get to be of service to my fellow man. Anyone who wants to reach me can call Ellen at 480-917-0909. -
So glad to read that I am not the only one who is organizationally challenged!
Thanks for sharing your resolutions, always a fun post to respond to and to read the other commenters. Mine (in no particular order) are:
- Stop making a big deal out of the fact I'll be turning FORTY by the end of April!
- Continuing to do the things which are already satisfying in my life or in my family's life: making memories, counting our blessings, enjoying each others company, cooking good food, baking some cakes, hoarding antiques, playing games and crafting with the kids.
- Get more sleep: I am such a nightowl, but with all them early birdies in my house that means way too little beautysleep. Which I need because of my age ;)
- Not to get stressed too much about money, just use common sense and continue my budgetplanning (I tend to get a wee bit too hysterical about the crisis in the eurozone, which I live in)
- And I'll steal your adults-only date night: we do that not too often, but I think it'll make life even better. I'll start with this one right away: we call my sister if she wants to babysit, tomorrow is our 11th anniversary! I'm getting really inspired to give ourselves a surprise dinner-date ... in a 'normal' gourmetrestaurant ... no McD's ... woohoo! -
Well, of course I want to lose weight. I want to make more jewelry. I want to go on a nice vacation. I want to read more and be more spiritual. But most of all, I want to be easier on myself and just remind myself that in life I'm doing the best I can. I tend to be a perfectionist and guess what, life is NOT about perfection! It's about finding happiness within the imperfections. So I will go into 2013 with that mindset and hope it's a great year! Happy New Year to you and yours Tori!! -
The same old story I'm sorry to admit. Lose weight, eat healthy, LIMIT my time on this computer and FB. Happy New year and stick to your goals. -
My resolutions are
to finally get something written and published
to make time every day to exercise
to experiment more in the kitchen with healthy recipes and challenge my kids to eat them!
to make more time for classes and hobbies -
-
These are GREAT and I love that they are all realistic! The kids are so cute and Tori you will be in the skinny jeans in no time! Happy New Year!
I want to read more, cook more for my family (this blog inspires me to do so) and spend more time exploring locally with my kids and family! -
My resolutions for 2013 are;
NOT let the daily stresses of work and life get the better of me! My daughter and I decided to go away for Christmas- to Disneyworld- it was completely magical. So that is our resolution to take vacations/ quick getaways- mother daughter time( priceless:). Spend more time with my Son and two nephews, my sister, and my friends. -
I call it my Wish for the New Year because resolution seem to be broken by people! ( this includes me) But a Wish is something I feel within my control! So my Wish for 2013 is to live like each day is my last and love like their is no tomorrow and tell my loved ones each day how much they mean to me!!! -
My favorite is Stella's watch the moon with her family..... sweet girl... Mine is to continue my weight loss, I'm 30 lbs down so far, I need 20 more. I also need to figure out how to end this heart palpitations! I hate them!!! Doctor won't do anything so I need to find my own cure. I also need to be more patient with my son and be happy. Happy New Year to all of you who read this. -
My New Years resolutions is very cliche but I had a baby girl 17 months ago and all I want is to get my body back in shape. I lost all the waight I just need to work my flabby stomach out. I would also like to learn how to relax and not take everything so serious and take a nice vacation with my little family. -
I want into those skinny jeans too... 15 pounds that's all! Can't be that hard
Make more time to read
Eat better, more whole foods
Be a better friend to my spouse and to my friends
make time to give back! Be a volunteer -
I love all those resolutions! One of mine is to try and post a video daily on youtube again as I used to in 2006-2007.
I could resolve to grow closer to my sister and talk via something other than text, facebook, or e-mail but I know that can't happen without something changing on her end and since you can't change anyone that doesn't want to change... Same with the hubby.... -
Happy New Year T and family!! Mine are too continue my Journey of losing weight and exercise, 40lbs gone already, I'm going to try and go Gluten Free and more Clean Eating, I hear these things will help with my Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis, I know losing the 40lbs is already helping. To go on a vacation with My Hubby and Daughter for the first time we have never been anywhere together. To take a honeymoon with my hubby we never have taken one yet and we been married for 15 years. To learn more about drawing because I love too do it and I want too do more of it want too learn how too draw still life. I want too do more of my knitting and learn how too crochet, I want too Craft more and craft more with my 12yr old daughter because she loves too do it as well. More time outside less time inside during the spring and summer times. -
My New Years resolution sounds exactly like yours! I never drink enough water, but when I do I feel so much more energetic, lose weight and fit into my old clothes (before I had 4 kids!)To lose weight the healthy way, exercise everyday, at least 10 min and to stop and ask myself is this good for my body and is it worth the extra calories. To be more organized; have all my bills, kids school papers etc all in order and have a place to put them.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful new year! -
Make sure that your goals are measurable. It is easier to get started and know your progress. Like, 4 adults only nights in a year or 6 glasses of water per day. Then you can get started on the planning. :) I want to work out 3 times a weeks. -
Oh honey, mine are the same every year. Lose weight, stop smoking and be better with money! But, this year it has to happen, I had a baby in January, so the baby weight has to go! I can't be a smoker now, I have to live a long nice life for my girl, and I have to buy her everything she needs, so the money thing will take care of itself!
Have a wonderful and safe New Year, and stay off the streets, the crazy drunkards come out on this night! -
Personally I have always wondered why they are called resolutions and not something like aspirations? I do not want to really resolve things in my life, rather I would like to aspire to make positive changes by setting goals. So my first "resolution" of the year is to change the title from "New Year Resolutions" to "New Year Aspirations"! lol :) -
I'm a procrastinator so even if I had one...I would be late getting started! LOL I will be continuing to work on my writing and making sure my children (and I) make it through the rest of the school year...8th grade graduation is on the horizon! Basically, I am looking forward to a year filled with family time and a little personal time. If I get that...I'm good! -
I'm not a big fan of resolutions either, but I like the idea of having a theme for the year that you can attach meaningful goals to. I'm an academic so for me 2013 will be the Year of Prolific Writing. I have several articles worth of data and several book ideas that I know I can write if I just make writing a more important part of my work days. I'll set monthly writing goals for myself and then weekly plans to accomplish the monthly goal. The theme lets me be a little more flexible in what I accomplish in ways that a daunting resolution like "I'll write six articles and two books this year" doesn't. I've got my preliminary plans sketched out and have already gotten an early jump on my January goal! -
I'm not big on New Year's resolutions. I kinda just try to start anew each morning instead. Every day is a new beginning! I can sum up my "resolutions" in one: to become the best version of myself. This will take a lifetime (or several!) to accomplish.
I LOVE Stella's resolution about sitting outside looking at the Moon. I LOVE the Moon! SHe & I share a favorite color. Pink rocks! lol
Wishing you & your family (& everyone who reads this!) a happy, healthy, prosperous 2013! Be well! -
All of these are great, but I especially like Stella's about watching the moon with her family. That is awesome! I would have to say mine is like yours, Tori, about water. I am awful at hydrating too. I think my major one is eating healthy and walking everyday. Happy New Year! -
Organization seems to be on everyone's list, and mine as well.
I also resolve to train for and complete a 1/2 marathon in May, so that will be an on-going task for the next few months.
Happy New Year everyone!
