A couple days before we had Finn I set out with Mehran, Liam and Stella to take care of one crucial detail: buying an outfit to take baby home from the hospital in. At this point we didn’t know the gender of my bun in the oven, so we picked up both boy and girl options, just to be safe.
As I waddled into The Pump Station & Nurtury, the good old preggers fatigue started to set in. Luckily, I had my little helpers Liam & Stella who picked out tons of outfits for baby. And who better to choose what Baby McDermott should wear home from the hospital than my two toddleristas? Gusband Mehran was along for the ride, the handy camera work, and the comic relief.
While we were shopping I asked Liam & Stella if they thought baby was going to be a boy or girl… you’ll have to watch the video to see if they were right!
What did your little one wear home from the hospital?
Love,
T

Well that was fun!! Thank goodness for your little helpers! I loved the first two outfits you picked out & then I didn't really get to see all the rest of the pile! Lol!! Well, they were right! You got your Beautiful Miracle Boy, Finn!! I was so Happy to hear that you had a boy as well! I was thinking the same!.... It was nice to see your Gusband, Mehran!! Miss him too!!....
As you know, I didn't get to bring my beautiful baby girl home from a hospital, but a lawyers office!.. We adopted her 3days old! We were very Lucky & blessed!... I had a beautiful sweater & wrapped her up in a matching blanket! She was perfect! I will never forget the day she was placed in my arms! It was magical & she was mine from that day on! :) -
After 14 years together, my middle son and his wife recently announced they're expecting!! I'm so excited. So, I opened the box that has been stored for decades to find the baby items my son wore. I have already passed on to them the little moccasins he wore and his blanket and when I see them again, I will give them his "home from the hospital" outfit - a cute little white with blue trim crocheted outfit. It has a hat, sweater and booties. It looks a bit old fashioned by today's standards so I don't expect them to necessarily have the baby (it is a boy, by the way) wear it home from the hospital but I do want to have them put it on him and take a picture of him in it. I'm so excited. This will be my fifth grandchild but everyone of them are so precious to me and I am as excited about this baby as I was about the first. -
My babies were born at home so we actually had it pretty simple :) but I did still have a BIRTH day outfit. Both girls wore pink cotton gowns with matching hats and my son wore a cotton onsie from baby gap with a bear on it bc my husband was coaching a Basketball team who's mascot was the Bear, we still call him Bear.
I love your final choices the stripes were precious!! I also can't help but notice Stella's swim top in the video, SwimZip. My friend and fellow "Mompreneur" Betsy Johnson owns that company. I was so happy when I saw her wearing it and so was Betsy when I told her!! -
Well...I searched from the time I was 6 weeks pregnant for the "perfect" coming home outfit for my son. Found 2 that I loved. SURPRISE!!! on my Mom's Birthday the little peanut was born.(3 weeks early) So, neither outfit fit him. He did get to wear an extra special "I Love Mommy" shirt. Which of course I adored! xo -
You two crack me up! ORIOLLAS ha ha ha! Looks like a cute store. This makes me miss your TV show...will there be another season of HSH??? Love you guys!!! -
We also have four little lovies, all very similar in age to Tori's. We bought a little orange sleeper when we were expecting our first 5 years ago. We did not know the sex of our baby and wanted a gender neutral outfit. We ended up using that same sleeper to bring all of our babies home. It is cute to look at the pictures side by side of all 4 of them in that same outfit. -
I had the cutest little white dress with different colored big polka dots all over it picked out for my daughters first day home. Low and behold, I forgot to pack in my hospital bag. So Daddy was supposed to bring it the morning we were leaving. He couldn't stay at the hospital, cause my son who was just 2 days shy of turning 1 was at home. Well he forgot, and I just wanted to get outta there ASAP so dad ran down to the gift shop and our lil princess came home in a t-shirt wearing the hospitals name. She was 6lbs and the shirt was a x small but still swam on her. Oh well makes for a great story!! -
So cute that you involve your kids. Thanks foor sharing with us. I love these short movies and of course the long ones on tv. Kiss Shami -
I have my 4 kids' first outfits in shadow boxes hung in our hallway. Everyone that sees them comments on them. I think they're pretty cute, and it's so fun to reminisce ☺ -

Love this! My sweet princess came home in a soft flower patterned onesie with long legs. Adorable. It was the first baby item me and my husband bought for her, before we even knew if it was a boy or a girl.

Oh wow, Tori, that looks like so much fun! My big baby boy came home in an adorable outfit given to me by my sister in law. It had little paw prints all over it and a little puppy on the top with his bone. So cute! Liam and Stella our such great helpers! I just love how you involve them in everything such as decorating the room and picking out the clothes. They were both wanting a little brother and now they have little Finn! I love your family! -
Both our children came home in outfits that were given at my showers. I am sorry I didn't save them. They were both christened in their father's christening gown which is very special.
Watching the video made me realize how much I miss watching you and your beautiful family every week. Wishing you all the best and precious moments as you watch your babies grow! -
My daughter came home in a sweet pink crocheted outfit with silk white collar and tiny pink flowers, a white bonet and white baby blanket (December) she was the sweetest pink butterball! I remember people looking at me on my way out of the hospital and I was so proud, I wanted to show her off to the world. but it was too cold. I still have all those pieces put away for her to maybe use for her own baby one day. -
My oldest son (50 this year) came home in a dress that I had come home in from the hospital, thanks to my Mom for saving it. Didn't use it for the next 4, giving in to my husband. The little white dress is now on a porcelain doll that I made, with a hat, booties,a blankie and another small blanket all from the other kids. -
I love how REAL you are Tori. With all four of my kids, when a new baby brother or sister was born, the older ones made their own "big brother or big sister" shirts to wear to the hospital, the kids and I made a shirt for daddy, and for the new baby I always used a soft preemie out fit and amazingly enough that was even too big. I always had a cute pair of socks on too while delivering that matched the nursery theme I had at home ready for the new baby. I'm creative like you and think of the fun little details:) -
Me, my younger brother and baby sister, all wore home the same outfit. It was gender neutral and a little big on each of us. My mother till has it and it will be something she forever treasures. Tori, love the video. Liam and Stella seem like such a big help! I bet they are great with the babies. -
Both of my girls wore home a dress I had worn as a baby. Even though my granddaughter didn't wear it home, she did wear it a couple of times. The best part is the the pictures of all of us in the dress. Priceless! -
this is so cute! I love how they both are in tune with what the actual sex was! You did promise Liam a brother sooo :) Great choices they made! love how Liam picked out a giraffe for Finn! Mehran was hilarious! I'm sure Dean woulda been the same way ;) -
You have two smart kids, knowing that a new brother was on his way!
My youngest two were born at home (which is rather common in my country) so plenty to choose from the closet. But my eldest was born at hospital because there was no midwife available at that moment. Because you are supposed to have an emergency-/hospitalkit ready eventhough home-deliveries are preferred, in all three cases I came prepaired: with an off-white, unisex, supersoft and supercute onesie with matching hat. And because the eldest was born at the end of winter I bought a sort of newborn skisuit which I thought to be the smallest one available and fitting for my baby. But when he was born he proved that I really had no clue how small newborn babies are! The nurses at the hospital had a real good laugh, seeing my little boy drowning in a sea of padded stuff! -
We had a special blanket that said "Take Me Home". I will save it forever. :) Your video is so sweet!
