We're excited to bring you another great article from POPSUGAR Moms, a fantastic source for mamas who want advice and news about everything from packing healthy lunches to mastering the art of stroller chic. This week, we're featuring their Valentine's Day crafts.

There's something about crafting with felt that brings out the kid in all of us. Regardless of how it's glued, sewn, or cut, we love the retro feel the fabric brings to projects. It also happens to be one of the easiest materials for young tots to handle due to its thickness — there's a reason so many preschool projects are made from felt!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we turned to Jodi Levine, crafts editor at Martha Stewart Living, for some advice on crafting with our kids for the big day. "Many years ago my friend Page Marchese Norman and I started a tradition of hand making Valentine's gifts for our co-workers," Jodi shared. "I think we had originally meant for them to be holiday gifts but with the December craziness, Valentine's seemed like a more reasonable deadline! Felt had always been a favorite material of ours. Because felt is nonwoven and doesn't fray, it requires no hemming, making it super easy to work with."

Check out the five easy crafts your lil ones can create with minimal help from mom and dad.

Lip Balm Holder/Keychain
Gather up some felt and key rings lying around the house and you can easily craft up a Chapstick holder that hangs from your lil one's backpack or keychain. Jodi says, "[A] lip balm holder/keychain . . . another must have for wintertime (and Valentine's smooching!)."

Felt Coffee Cup Sleeve
Your lil one may be the cause of your java addiction, so she's used to seeing coffee cups lying around. "We saw these coffee cup cozies on The Purl Bee and made a Valentine-ed up version," Jodi shared. The soft covers will keep lil fingers safe from a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day.

Felt Tissue Pouch
In a season where sniffly noses are prevalent, these felt tissue pouches are both practical and adorable. "I think that these felt tissue pouches were some of our first. A practical gift for winter!" Jodi says. All you need are some felt, pinking shears, and a few stitches to create them.

Stenciled Gift Bags
"For an assembly-line personalized packaging idea, try these stenciled gift bags — perfect for anything from jewelry to candy," Jodi says. "I used freezer paper to make the stencils . . . one of my very favorite techniques! The large heart was cut with scissors and the letters (xo and the 'g') were cut with a craft knife."

Zip-Tie Heart Garland
Jodi turned to fellow Martha Stewart Living editor Marcie McGoldrick for this fun garland idea. Neon zip ties can easily turn into fun Valentine's Day decorations in a few easy steps.
