Happy New Year: Our 2017 Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone!! 2017 is upon us and I have a feeling that this is going to be one incredible year. With a new baby on the way and so many fun projects in the pipeline, this just might be the McDermotts’ best year yet.  I’ve been thinking a lot about New Year’s resolutions, and today I wanted to share mine with you… plus some pretty hilarious resolutions from the kids! I asked each of them what their New Year’s Resolutions were for 2017, and their answers made me laugh. Take a look…

“I want to play less video games and do outdoor activities with my family.” – Liam

“My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to master the backhand spring in gymnastics, and help with the new baby!” – Stella

“I want to be a princess!” – Hattie

“I want to become a ninja super hero and kiss the baby everyday” – Finn

As for me, my personal New Year’s solutions are to work on my organization and time management skills in my life. With 5 babes I’ll need these skills! I also want to work on being as connected as I can and communicative with my entire family (blood and chosen members!!). I think gamily is so important, especially for the kids. They crave knowing all of their family near and far, and I want to help them make these connections and keep them :-)

What are your resolutions for 2017? Leave them in the comments!

For the new year my resolution is to be the best I can be in every aspect of life! I know since my car accident I’ve not been myself! I just want to get back to being me! Plain and simple!

I want to put down my cell phone more and actually enjoy the moments happening around me and my family. That’s hard because working for myself, my phone is the way I communicate with my clients so even when I’m not working, I’m working. I need to make sure I separate the two and sometimes just leave the phone at home.

    Happy New Year Tori!!!
I would say that I would love to work on my personal heath so I can be the best mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend I can be.
Gratitude everyday for all the blessings big and small we have. Lastly, reading more books instead of my phone before bed:)
Thanks for sharing yourself with all of us Tori!!! 2017 will be amaing:)

Shouldn’t you set some financial goals in 2017 for you and Dean to become independent of Candy?

I love that social media connects people together, but at the same time it makes us all live in certain fairytale lives. So my new tear’s resolution is to not try and be catching up with the jones’ all the time, but to be able to share normal stuff my family and I do. Not just the things that cost money to get people to perceive that I have my “shit together” because at 33, and married with two kids I am not sure that I will ever make that happen. I do however wish to work on getting out of student loan debt. I feel like college was just thus thing I did to get me into a financial hole I can’t get out of. Overall, it’s been a healthy happy year! Onto another chapter!

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but perhaps your kids’ health should also be one of your priorities this year. Three of them are clearly obese and children’s diabetes is no joke!
