Here in the McDermott household we try to keep a healthy and balanced diet. Dean and I like to feed the kids as many home cooked and healthy meals as we can, but, that doesn’t mean my kiddos don’t like sweets… So, when a holiday rolls around we usually like to whip up some themed treats (you know I can’t help myself when there’s a good theme), and next week is Cinco de Mayo! Last night I did some serious Pinterest research and found a ton of amazing sweets that the kids will love… and today I am sharing some of my faves:

  1. Pinata Cookies

These colorful cookies are a great Cinco de Mayo treat, and super fun to make! Head over to She Knows for the full tutorial.

  1. Strawberry Cheesecake Chimichangas

  1. Mexican Brownies

A Family Feast gives us a brownie that is both sweet and spicy! I can’t wait to try this recipe.

  1. Tres Leches Cake

  1. Taco Cookies

I honestly didn’t believe these were cookies at first glance. They just look so much like real tacos! But Alana Jones Mann shows you how to pull off this recipe here.

  1. Churro Cake

And last but not least, this Churro Cake from Kitchy Kitchen looks unreal. Get the recipe here.
