When you are a mom and a business woman, things can get a little crazy. Sometimes you are so busy juggling your life at home and at work, you forget one very important thing – yourself. With the new year upon us, I thought this was the perfect time to remind you ladies that you have to take care of yourself! If you are not 100%, you become less productive in every area of your life – which no one has time for.


So because I’m 7 months pregnant, today I’m sharing my top 7 tips on how you can make sure 2017 is your best year ever! These are simple things that are easy to incorporate into your everyday life, so give it a try!

1. Make sure you get some sleep.

Sleep is so important to being your best self! So make sure you are getting in your 7-9 hours. ( this means all electronics off. I know it’s hard but they say to turn your phone and tv off 2 hours before bed. ) 

2. Drink a TON of water. They say at least 8 glasses a day. 

This one is NOT easy for me but totally do able as long as you plan ahead. Always have a water bottle on you so you can constantly refill throughout the day. ( they make such cute ones now. If Unicorns are the way to your hydration… DO IT!) I also add some lemon or vitamin flavor packets can help too. 

3. Be active whenever you can. 

I’m not saying you need to go to Soulcycle or run a marathon (I would only do this if there’s a sale at the mall!) but try to be active for at least 20 minutes a day. Even if it’s just a walk around the neighborhood. Or speed-ish walking through the grocery store or Target counts too… well, it does in my book! My activity is usually chasing after my 4 kiddos. But trust, your body will thank you. 

4. If starting a diet or healthy eating plan this New Year It’s ok to follow the 80/20 rule. 

A lot of people fail on their diets because they are too strict on themselves. They go extreme. Our bodies and souls don’t respond to that… in any area of life. Life is about moderation. So be realistic! Eat well 80 percent of the time, but allow yourself to have a little cheat room! If you love pizza for example don’t go without. Give yourself one day a week to order in your favorite topping pizza! 

5. Don’t punish yourself if you have a bad day. 

Nobody is perfect. If you have a bad day, the worst thing you can do is punish yourself, and then go extreme to make up for it. It’ll just be a domino effect. Shake it off and move on. Focus on the positive things in your life, not the negative. Remember we are all works in progress! 

6. Eat breakfast. 

You know the importance of feeding your kiddos breakfast, and the same rules apply for you. Especially when you are eating for two, like me! Start your day off with some fuel! And it doesn’t have to be a full sit down breakfast… I know we are all in a hurry in the morning. I make a big batch of hard boiled eggs for the week and can grab one or two and some sliced avocado on toast and still be out the door in 10 minutes! But worse-case scenario, find a bar you love and eat that or a banana. Something easy. 

7. Meditation is key – even if it’s only 5 minutes a day.

Every momprenuer deserves a little time to herself. Take 5 minutes (everyone can spare 5 minutes!), shut the door, and forget about everything you have to do. Quiet your mind, and just be in the moment. I’ve just started doing this and while it’s hard to make it a welcomed habit just yet, I find it’s easiest if I do it first thing in the morning before I even get out of bed. I do see so far that it gets me in a positive space and ready to attack my day! If you don’t know how to meditate at all, just Google easy 5 minute meditations for beginners.
