By now you’ve seen my Mother’s Day seaside picTORIal and all the fun I had with the kids this past weekend. But my Mother’s Day actually kicked off two days early this year. Last Friday, I had the honor of accepting the Mother of the Year award from Cedars-Sinai and The Helping Hand of Los Angeles. Cedars-Sinai is the hospital where all four of my babes were born, and where I spent 2 ½ months on bed rest during my pregnancy with Finn.

Liam, Stella, Hattie, and Finn were all there with me on the day of the event. My hubby Dean was stuck in Canada filming, but my Gusband Mehran was by my side as well as my other best friends and my mom. It was truly one of my proudest moments when my OB/GYN Dr. Jason Rothbart presented the award to me. Dr. J is not just my doctor, but an amazing friend. He was there every single day with me during my hospital stay. He was my champion and who I wanted to present me with such an amazing award. As you’ll see, it was pretty much impossible to get through my speech without tearing up…

Being named Mother of the Year is one of the greatest honors I can imagine receiving. When they first asked me to accept the award I thought, “What did I do to deserve this?!” I was in shock! But I made up my mind to accept the award on behalf of mommies everywhere. Mothers are a special group of people. No matter how different we are as individuals, we support each other. We’re a true community that bands together. So fellow mamas, this one’s for you!

Do you feel the mommy-to-mommy bond as much as I do?

Love,
T

Congratulations again Tori! Great speech. I like being referred to as a “Mom Warrior.” I think I’ll have my girlies call me that from now on ;) You looked stunning and the kids looked adorable (love Finn’s onesie with tie!). Nice event. Hope you’re still riding the high of your Mexican get-away for your birthday! Cheers xo

Hi Tori! Loved this! YOU deserve this award because you are a mommy of the year and we, your fansfriends are so proud and so inspired by you! …the bond you have with your children is amazing&special. You remind of me ‘back when’…ha! Half mine are grown now & i have 2 again! Except now, i’m MUCH more relaxed and mellow…just take things as they come. I used to be quite a planner. BUT my grown kids say all the time how much they LOVED everything i did! Life is beautiful when LOVE is your focus in all you do! Thanks for being you Tori! :)

Congratulations, Tori, Mother of the Year. What an honor! You are the best example of what it is to be a mom. We are all proud of all your accomplishments. I loved the video. The entire room was cheering for you! By the way, Finn and Hattie appear to be about the same size as though they are twins. Wow! Finn is getting so big! In closing, Tori, you are such a role model for many women of all ages. You give many of us a diversion to our ho hum lives. You make life interesting. I hope you continue to be around being such an inspiration to us all.

Congratulations!!! It’s nice to see your Mum and Gusband with you, but I especially liked it that your ‘oldest’ friends were there as well. Don’t you think it’s so nice, as you are getting older, they still know who you were when you were young? I still have two of them: we shared our highs and lows, we’ve have seen each other at our worst (think your alter ego, Teri-style), at our saddest and at our best, in sickness and in health, pre- and post motherhood or pre- and post decision not to have them, and allthough we couldn’t lead our lives more different, or even couldn’t be more different, they are the common thread in my life and vice versa.
So thank you, for sharing this moment with us, it made me think about my girls again! And another thanks for giving me the word Momporium, that one is here to stay (at least in my vocabulary).
    Ta T!

An honor indeed and well deserved. I still remember how frightened you were when you were pregnant for the first time with Liam…look how far you’ve come. I recall watching and wishing I could take away all your worries because I knew you would be a wonderful mother. It is obvious that not only do you love your children but you respect them as well and that isn’t always as easy as it seems. They will grow up to be wonderful, caring adults in no small part because of you. Congratulations.

In June 2008 we sat in the backyard chilling, when an airplane began writing letters in the sky. It was quite a procedure and it was so exciting to see what the message was going to be. We kept guessing as one letter at a time spelled out: WELCOME HOME TORI & DEAN. Pretty awesome!

  • Jackie C

This is long overdue but congrats!! I can’t think of anyone more deserving. So nice that Dr. J got to introduce you, he seems like such a nice guy (from what I’ve seen on your shows anyway). You are truly supermom!!
