Everyday is Earth Day in the McDermott household. One of my personal favorite ways to reduce waste is by upcycling old materials into a beautiful new design. All it takes is a little creativity to turn a few simple materials into a work of art. So today I wanted to share a few fun crafts and recipes inspired by our home planet. You saw our yummy Earth Day pancakes in this blog post, but here’s some more inspiration for you and your kiddos, all found on my favorite website Pinterest. Check out these uber-creative ideas and let me know which one you’re going to try:
1. Earth Day Recycled Crayons via Sandy Toes & Popsicles
Instead of throwing away those itty-bitty crayon pieces, melt them into a cute Earth Day gift.
2. Stained Glass Planet Earth via Mom On Timeout
Between wrapping and crafting, I always end up with leftover scraps of tissue paper. This project is an easy and beautiful way to teach your little ones about their home planet.
3. Marbled Planet Earth via Teaching With TLC
This Earth Day beauty was made with shaving cream, paint, and construction paper. I can’t wait to try it with my mini craftista Stella.
4. Rice Krispie Globes via 99 Crafting
Our Earth Day pancakes were such a hit with the kids, and I know these Rice Krispie treats would be too. Plus, they’re easy enough for the kids to really help out with.
5. Earth Day Cupcakes via Bird on a Cake
Talk about a sweet way to celebrate Earth Day. The surprise frosting heart is a great way to show your love for our home planet.
Are you doing any baking or crafting in honor of Earth Day?
