It’s shower season, mamas! So whether you’re putting together a registry for yourself or deciding what to get for someone else, I wanted to share a few gift ideas for the momista-to-be. But before we begin, here are some quick tips about buying for a baby shower: First, expecting parents will want to buy certain things themselves. So leave the more “personal” items (like formula and nursing supplies) to them. Second, if you’re a family member of the expecting mama, you’re allowed to spoil both her and the baby with “bigger” gifts, like diaper bags, high chairs and play yards. Finally, if you’re a friend of the expecting mama, you really have a ton of options. Stick to gifts the parents will always need: clothing, bath accessories, diapers and burp cloths to name a few. And of course, I’m a huge fan of the DIY gift. It adds a special touch that the mama-to-be is sure to remember (and probably keep!).
Now without further ado, here are some great gift ideas to give you a little inspiration:
Adorable Outfits & Accessories
I love completely unique items, like this to-die-for hand-knit hat. What a HOOT!
A Must-Have Outfit
You can’t go wrong with a super cute outfit that will make the whole room aww when mommy-to-be opens it. I love this modern and trendy onesie… and I die for the tie! My lil man Finn loves looking dapper in his ties.
Chic Mommy Accessories
Before Finn was born, I told you all that I love a fresh, new diaper bag when baby comes. Taking the place of purses for quite a while, a diaper bag becomes much more wearable when it’s in-style. I also mentioned in that post that my favorite bag was one by Skip Hop, and I’m loving this one with a new spring-ified pattern!
A family member would typically invest in a high chair for the expecting parents. It’s nice to have an adjustable high chair that can “grow” alongside baby and also looks great in your kitchen. That’s why I love this Tripp Trapp chair. I told you about this when I gave away Hattie’s high chair a couple months ago. It comes in all different colors and I can guarantee you any expecting-mama will absolutely adore it!
Every mommy-to-be will want a baby monitor, and a lot of parents these days are using video monitors. I personally have always used this one by Summer. I love the modern look (it doesn’t look like it was built in the ‘80s!).
Things that Make a Busy Momista’s Life Easier
Again this is a gift for a family member to get the expecting parents. A play yard is so necessary (especially if you have TWO little ones, like me). It allows a busy momista to do some other things without having to worry that baby is making a run…er, crawl for it. This play yard is from 4Moms, and I like it because it only takes one movement to set up and take down. Voila!
Premade Baby Bottles
A couple weeks ago I gave away a couple of these Mixie Bottles… and for a good reason! They’re such a great tool to have for midnight feedings and on-the-go mommies. You can make the formula ahead of time and just add water. It’s as easy as that.
Baby Food Maker
Whether mommy-to-be is planning to consistently maker her own baby food or not, it’s always nice to have a baby food maker. Canned and prepackaged baby food isn’t as nutritious as homemade and can get really expensive. This Beaba BabyCook Pro will make life much easier for expecting parents.
Stuff New Parents Will Always Need
Burp Cloths & Bibs
Just like onesies, new parents will go through burp cloths, bibs and blankets like crazy. You can’t go wrong with getting them an adorable newborn essential “drool” kit like this one. (Love the chic chevron pattern!)
Babies poop…a lot. I don’t really need to say much more about that. Give your diapers in a chic way, rather than just handing them packaged. I love this little Stork Bundle, made with a blanket and ribbon. Chic and unique!
Blankets & Swaddles.
You cannot go wrong with an Aden & Anais swaddle or blanket. These are the softest, coziest blankets ever! Finn loves his giraffe print and bamboo swaddles, and Hattie is obssessed with these new Hello Kitty ones!
Darling DIY Gifts
Of course, you can’t go wrong with a pack of cute onesies. I love the idea of making these DIY cupcake gift set onesies.
Instead of buying them, you can DIY some bibs to make them extra special! These “lil man” bibs are so cute!
You cannot go wrong with anything for baby’s bath time. Whether it’s rubber duckies, bathrobes, washcloths or baby towels, they will always come in handy. I think these DIY Baby Washcloth Peapods are almost too cute to use. Such a chic gift idea.
To sum things up, THIS is one of the most creative ways to DIY a Baby Shower Gift Set. It includes diapers, receiving bibs, socks, a washcloth and a stuffed animal. Can you say perfect baby shower gift?
I hope these ideas give you a little inspiration for the next gift hunt you go on for a baby shower! I can’t wait to make the little cupcake onesies.
Which gift idea is your favorite?
