As you saw, Hattie’s 1st birthday party (aka Mad Hattie’s Tea Party) was off to an amazing start. We decorated the front yard to look like Wonderland, cooked up enough food for all of our Tea Party guests, and got all four kids (plus Mitzi) into their costumes (which is no small feat!). Although the skies were grey, we knew it would be a super fun party spent with our family and friends.
What we didn’t know was that Hattie would be hitting a MAJOR milestone! We thought turning 1 was enough, but Hattie had other plans… As the guests enjoyed cake pops, balloon animals and face painting, my baby girl did something that totally surprised me; she took her very first steps! Luckily, the whole thing happened on video, so I have the footage to share. Here is Miss Hattie Cat taking her first steps:
I’m so happy that we have this moment on video forever… it was so special to see Hattie hitting such a huge milestone in front of our nearest and dearest. And it was extra special that I got to share that moment with my mom.
As you saw, the second Hattie was finished walking on the grass, she grabbed our hands and headed straight for Dean, so he could see her walk for himself. I love the look on his face as he watched Hattie take those steps toward him. Can you say Proud Papa?!
And, what better way to celebrate Hattie’s first steps than with cake?! Towards the end of the party, we lit the candles on Hattie’s Hansen’s cake (family tradition of course!), and sang “Happy Birthday” to our little lady…
Watching these videos now makes me feel like this was just yesterday… even though it was way back in October! I love reliving these special moments in our family, and am so happy I can share them with all of you.
When did your little ones take their first steps?
