Four years ago tomorrow, on June 9th, 2008, my baby girl Stella was born. Her name means “star”, and from the moment she came into my life, she has been the twinkle in my eye.

My entire life I wanted a little girl. A little girl I could love, cuddle, dress up, and tell her every day how smart, beautiful and amazing she is.

Four years later I still do that with Stella and will continue to do so for the rest of her life. And in return, Stella makes me feel just as loved. We are truly best girlfriends.

Her first word was “mama” and her second word was “shoes.” She’s been a mama’s girl and true fashionista ever since!

My girl has also been a self-fulfilled middle child even before there WAS a middle child. Stella’s first sentence was, “What about me?” – it broke my heart in such a profound way that I’ve made a life out of making Stella feel like she’s #1 in any given situation. She deserves it.

She’s such a sweet, sensitive soul who always thinks of others before herself. She picks up on feelings and energy the minute she meets you.

My special little mama loves to learn and sings most of her songs in Spanish (except her favorite “Single Ladies,” where she will take you through the entire dance routine).

Stella plays dress-up and works the runway like no other, but at the end of the day she’s just my girl. We lie in bed in our PJs together, holding hands while watching TV and I picture us shopping together when she’s 20 and us still holding hands.

I don’t intend to overwhelm her with my love and adoration, but I always want to be the support she needs so that she’ll always know that she can do or become anything she wants.

Well, if you can’t tell by now, I am Stella Doreen McDermott’s biggest fan! I was truly blessed four years ago and I am so proud to be her mommy and best friend.

Happy Birthday Buggy!
