Transitional Trend #4: Kimonos

I called this one last year! Yep, kimonos are going to be big this fall. From the street to the runway, everyone’s embracing this traditional Japanese robe.

During summer, you might have worn kimonos as a flirty summer dress or a wrap for cool summer evenings. Kimonos are also great to wear around the house. Flattering, sexy, and comfy, they’re right up there with the kaftan in my book!

For fall, you can imitate the kimono silhouette by adding a wide belt or sash to a V-neck tunic or an open cardigan. No shopping required! You can also modernize a traditional kimono by adding bold accessories like bangles, a stone pendant necklace, a statement ring, or tassel earrings. Worn with your fall boots or wedges, you can update the kimono to create a chic, modern look.

Finally, you don’t have to go out and spend a fortune on the kimono look. I get all of my kimonos at local vintage stores. Happy hunting!

How do you plan to work kimonos into your fall wardrobe?
